Clean energy for our environment

A wind turbine displaces 2,365 tonnes of CO2 every year. That's the equivalent of driving from London to Edinburgh 30,000 times.

Harmonious with nature

Birds face many hazards but wind turbines only cause 0.01% of bird fatalities. Collisions with buildings cause 58% of fatalities.

Reaching towards the future

The power produced by one wind turbine is equal to 16,000 solar panels!

About Giiwedin Noodin

Giiwedin Noodin, in our Ojibway language means north wind. This is a fitting title to the company’s name along side of Northland Power. Giiwedin Noodin is a partnership between Aamjiwnaang First Nation and Bkejwanong (Walpole Island) First Nation. We are a single purpose entity; to manage the affairs of the First Nations side of the Grand Bend Wind Farm. We are equal partners with Northland Power in this partnership and as such desire a great project that generates clean energy and opportunity.

One of our traditions as Anishnabec people is something called “Planning for Seven generations”. Simply put, this is ensuring that what we consume now from Mother Earth today will not negatively affect our people seven generations from now. Today’s modern term would be sustainable development. With this in mind we feel this partnership to create and generate clean energy aligns with our traditions and way of life.
